Family Webpage Plug

5 June 2008

Little plug for a website my sister’s family started recently.

To give the back story, my niece has spent the last couple of months in and out of the hospital with a very rare condition called Henoch-Schoenlein purpura (HSP). HSP is a condition where blood vessels get inflamed and capillaries may burst causing a spotty rash. There are other symptoms that that could affect the kidneys and the digestive tract, but they aren’t always consistent. There are still a lot of question marks surrounding the condition.

When my niece first started showing symptoms, my sister and brother-in-law had a great deal of trouble trying to figure out what was going on. There wasn’t as much information out there as they would have liked. In the spirit of trying to help out those who go through the same thing they went through and providing what support they can, they started a website to give parents with kids with HSP an opportunity to ask questions of people who have been through it.

I doubt there will be a ton of people out there looking for this information, but for those who are looking for this kind of information, I thought it would be good to maximize their opportunities to find it.
